Am I now, or have I ever been a card-carrying member of the Rebublican Party? One of my earliest memories, (I was about 5) is of waking my parents on Election Day and telling them to "Be sure and vote for Ike!" One of my dolls had (and still has) a 3-word vocabulary: "I like Ike!" (I haven't had the heart to tell the poor old dolly that "Ike" has been pushing up dasies lo these many years. If that doesn't qualify me as a card-carrying Republican, I don't know what will.

My first thoughts upon seeing the MLK statue was that it looked like really, really BAD Soviet "art", circa 1930, so it's not really surprising that the thing IS really, really BAD Communist Chinese "art", circa any time before, during and after "The Great Leap Forward"!
