One thing to remember: the barbarians that sacked Rome were Christians (albeit Arian Christians) who set aside places of worship as sanctuaries and left them and those in them unharmed during the sack. They gained access into Rome by means of one of Rome's greatest accomplishments: they snuck in via the aqueducts and then overpowered the guards at the gates. St. Augustine wrote his City of God in reaction to the sack and noted the fact that the invaders were already Christian, but who hadn't bought into the Roman system. One thing I think many of us on the right fail to understand when we sit around feeling bad about how things are going in America is that this is not OUR America. This is PROGRESSIVE America...

And the liberals are right about one insult they throw at us. We ARE the barbarians. It is our job to destroy it. Sure there will be sanctuaries to run to, but this has to go, and this country has to be free once more.

Greg, if I'm reading you correctly, you sound like you might be arming for another "Civil War." ¿Do you really think that Christians should be "destroying" America because it is "progressive"? I suggest that the barbarians who destroyed Rome had been converted to the label "Christianity" but had not learned the spirit of Christ. I don't think they are the ones we should be imitating to save America by first destroying it. Anyway, it does not seem that their motives for attacking Rome were Christian motives. I have received messages of concern for our nation’s future. As you know, we have been diligent in praying for God’s will to be done and the decision has been made. That does not mean we stop praying. No matter how you feel about the leadership of our country, they are our leaders and we must pray for them.
