Moose, you should read Jonah Goldberg's book, "Liberal Fascism." Communism and National Socialism (Nazis) are both cut from the same fascist cloth. Communism is 'International Socialism' and and Nazis represent 'National Socialism' with a very racist, anti-semitic flavor. Nazis were ardent socialists....the wanted free health care and guaranteed jobs; they confiscated inherited wealth, declared war on smoking, supported abortion, euthanasia, and gun control. Do a little more research.

I think Utah would be the best place for Magpul...AZ a close second, :) We have a friendly business environment (also a right-to-work State), loads of ready customers, etc.,; and the Californicators haven't screwed us up too bad yet...although they're trying their damnedest. On second thought, Arizona might be the better choice...pains me to say that though. One thing's for certain...wherever they go, I'll be there with my money.

So I come back to this thread this morning thinking maybe Katie had updated her article to acknowledge that Mark Kelly's firearms purchase was not a "straw purchase." You know, I really like this girl's writing usually...good moral compass, staunch defender of the 2nd Amendment...but she just absolutely boned it on this one and didn't do her research. I know BigDog, usmcpgw, and others had it out all day yesterday on this issue...obviously there's some bad blood even between conservative TH'ers...but there is just no way this classifies as a straw purchase folks. Kelly is a hypocrite, an opportunist and attention seeker, but he didn't break the law here. We can't lose focus on the real threats to the 2nd Amendment. Molon labe!

Check again...even if you are correct that his intent all along was to give it as a GIFT to the TPD, he did not violate the law since the TPD did not send him there to buy a firearm they couldn't have otherwise purchased themselves. Not to mention the whole "gift" thing. Sorry, no straw purchase here. Is he an a ss for doing this? Yes. But we have bigger issues with respect to the usurpation of our 2nd Amendment rights than this idiot's gun purchases. Katie gets an "F" for not doing her research on this one.

Otherwise, any grandpa (like me) who bought his granddaughter (like mine) a pink .22LR Cricket to give as a gift would be in violation of the law. Moreover, the 4473 says you are NOT the "Actual Buyer" only if you are acquiring the firearm, "...on behalf of another person." As someone who regularly signed off on retail firearms sales, I would not call this a straw purchase. Scott

OT: Katie, just wondering if the spelling errors in the excerpt above are his or yours? I love Sheriff Clark and his support for our 2nd Amendment rights, and I'm NOT a spelling Nazi when it comes to blogs, TH posts, etc; but a letter to a U.S. Senator should have been proofread before it went out. Ultimately, I don't think it detracts much from the message to Sen. Graham, but hey, b i tchers gonna b i tch, right? :-)

I thought I was a socialist once...when I was in college and there weren't any consequences for stupid a z z thoughts and actions. Then the real world jumped up and bit me and I said, "F&@K the revolution...I have a family to feed and bills to pay." It's all just a bad memory now, but yeah, I've been on the dark side...tools like Chavez and Obama are EXACTLY what we wanted to see in power as a precursor to the real socialist revolution. God, I'm glad I grew out of that BS.
