Smitty, I agree. If Reid's actions hurt folks in Vegas in their wallets...well, I'm sure he doesn't really care, but they might. Anyway, I think it would have to be in a warm-ish area given the time of year it's being held. That said, I'd love to see them come to SLC, but Phoenix might also be good.

Huntsman 2016?

Huntsman 2016? Oh, hell no! Only chance he has is on the democratic party ticket.
Kudos to the Senator for acting so quickly. Hero? Really? Let's not diminish the meaning of that word any more. The heroes are serving our country in a different way, and with far graver potential consequences. Just sayin'
Evidently the GOP is branching out...moving from the "stupid" party to the "whip me, beat me, may I have another Mistress Obama" party. They are just so inept right now it makes me friggin' sick to my stomach. My State (Utah) has one of these guys...Orrin Hatch...and one REAL conservative, Mike Lee, who is standing strong in the face of the establishment threats.
LL, Exactly! That's the first I caught in Courtney's article...that she referred to tactical rifles as "assault weapons" which is the "dog whistle" uninformed citizens hear when we discuss weapons bans. Excellent posting.

Starbucks and Guns

I think there is some confusion on the part of a few folks about what retail establishments can and cannot do with respect to firearms in their stores. The Starbucks CEO has ASKED people with CFPs to please leave their guns outside when they come in. However, he alone cannot make carrying inside his store "illegal" or "outlaw" weapons. I believe he said no one will be refused service if they carry inside one of his stores (assuming you are doing so legally based on the laws in your State), but would appreciate their cooperation. The absolute most a retail store manager can do is ask you politely to leave with your firearm, and call the police as a last resort if you don't. Since it's a private business, they are well within their rights to do that, but even then all the police will do is ask you to leave. And, retail store managers will only do that if they don't like guns themselves and know you are carrying, or some other customer makes a complaint about a person with a gun. Even if it's posted on the door as store policy that no firearms are allowed, the most they will do is ask you to leave. That's my experience anyway.

Agree 100%! I listened to Dennis Prager last night tell us he doesn't care that Al-Qaeda or other islamist organizations make up even 50% of the rebel opposition. We should get rid of Assad first and then deal with Al-Qaeda. For a man as smart as Prager, I fould his reasoning sorely lacking. He feels Syria is helping Iran in supporting and arming Hezbollah (true), and Iran is training fighters to combat the Syrian rebels in a war of the Islams (Sunni versus Shiite). That all may be true as well, but so what?
