We are well on the "Road to Serfdom" . . . otherwise known as the shady side of Alexander Tytler's "Cycle of Democracy." Democrats celebrate in ignorance and Republicans similarly lament – not knowing that all Romney would have done is slow our rate of "travel" in the same direction. I doubt that even Ron Paul or Gary Johnson could have changed leviathan's direction – although I would like see them have a shot at it. Granted, the process would be more educational than political, in any practical sense. I have long considered my third party presidential vote as a boycott of the two major parties. And I have never felt that it was "wasted."
Republicans are mystified that in a nation they know as fundamentally conservative, a president they regard as deeply radical has been re-elected. But Americans didn't vote for Barack Obama because they are liberal. They voted for him because they are conservative.

Not conservative as defined by modern Republicans but as defined by the dictionary: "disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change."

This election changed as little as possible. The presidency, the House of Representatives and the Senate stayed in the same hands as before. Gridlock and stalemate were given a new lease. Americans may...
