Actually what we voted for were Marriage Equality, a woman's right to chose, corporations not being people, billionaire brothers not buying elections, and even Universal healthcare. What we voted against was racism, homophobia,( the tea party) an American Christian Oligarchy, tax cuts for the rich and our children fighting an unnecessary war in Iran. I agree with you in that I believe we will get all the things we voted for and against.

The reality is that I can see exactly what you are saying. But, many cant. We have two fundamentally different views of society and America. All of the ultra right are thinking that the "great unwashed" have taken over our wonderful Republic. They long for the 1950s. They forget that in that era, certain Americans couldnt ride in the front of the bus, that homosexuals were prosecuted and sent to prison for loving someone, that a significant amount of our resources went to the Military/Industrial complex (see Eisenhower), that women could not aspire to high position or responsible employment. In fear, they long for simplicity instead of embracing the world as it is evolving.

President Barack Obama won re-election tonight without winning as many electoral votes as he did the last time around after facing a serious threat because of his first term agenda. Now beware of people in the mainstream media proclaiming that there's some kind of "mandate" for Barack Obama to run with.
