When you're looking for sound historical scholarship you can't do better than going with Matt Damon's recommendation. Its also free of pesky things like research, fact checking and footnotes -- just like the internet.

The paranoid liberal thinks Zinn is thought-provoking and that goldilocks makes good points. Is it any wonder he's upset that his Kennedy ox got gored and he's pissy about it?

No, I don't know that one! I'll definitely check it out. I really like re-examining national myths and unchallenged narratives. Very much enjoyed Howard's Zinn's People's History of the US and a newer one called Renegade History of the US by Thaddeus Russell. Very compelling and thought-provoking stuff.
