A Civil Union can be fashioned so that it provides the same EXACT benefits, rights and privileges as a religious marriage. The benefit of this is that gays obtain the legal and economic benefits EQUAL to married couple in every way -- they can even say they are married -- but the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of Christians and Jews to determine the conditions associated with the word "marriage" will have been respected. If you can't accept this, you are a degenerate thug devoted to simply hurting others for your own aggrandizement.

Yesterday the Supreme Court Justices heard arguments about California's Prop 8, legislation legalizing gay marriage in California, which was voted down by California residents. As Guy wrote, it looks as though the Justices may dismiss that case all together. Meanwhile, the Justices will hear arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act Wednesday. DOMA defines marriage on a federal level as being between one man and one woman.
