Billy James Hargis warns of Kennedy's "liberal associates." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ssybQg1ZAY This Tea Party preacher was with us some 50 years ago. Here's some tidbits from his speech. "For Christ and against Communism." "ominous warnings for a sleeping American public" "deadly enemies of the American people close in for their final stages of encircling our nation." "enemy nations within intensify efforts to chip away the foundations upon which American freedom rests." "more and more voices call for the SURRENDER OF OUR NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY to some type of world authority." (where have I heard that before?) Ooh la la.....and some 50 years ago from today!

Social Security holds $2.7 trillion of government securities, sold to them in good faith that the money would be available to pay Social Security benefits. Is the federal government going to default on these securities? Do members of Congress think that us old, little people are so stupid that we don't realize we are being taken? "Shared sacrifice" is a LIE. I still see CEOs making outrageous salaries and bonuses, and they are the ones, with their opaque "derivatives" which brought the economy to the brink of disaster. I still see corporations and the wealthy spending obscene amounts of money lobbying to undermine democracy in the USA, turning the USA into a plutocracy.

What really boggles my mind is the huge outlays for military and defense spending. I remember scratching my head when days after the 9-11 attacks, and the White House at that time said there was no connection to Saddam Hussein, yet somehow there was already talk of an invasion to Iraq. Amazing how some defense contractors, for example Halliburton, quadrupled its share price after the invasion of Iraq. I think Washington is ridden with con men and the disingenuous, who really have very little regard for what happens to the long term fiscal health of our nation and its citizens.

As I understand it, Democrats have agreed to entitlement reforms if Republicans will agree to tax increases, a course of action most citizens recognize as necessary to achieve deficit reduction and spur the economy. Yet Republicans won't budge, are apparently stuck either in their ideology or in pledges to their big money supporters, or both. I'm an independent, view the Democrats as a party that can't seem to get out of its own way, yet have no use for Republicans. They seem to have but two goals: personal greed and destroying the country.
