In the last few weeks, all we heard about were the epic fails in preparation for the Games: crucially important security issues were in chaos, the Olympics-dedicated traffic lanes were causing mammoth traffic jams and Muslim athletes were refusing to play Israelis. What exactly did Romney say that was wrong? Maybe it was more a matter of the truth about the British lack of preparedness' hitting too close to home.

Mitt Romney has been taking some heat in the past few days for daring to question whether London was fully prepared for the 2012 Olympics.

 The candidate, who was chief executive of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002, is due to attend the opening ceremony on Friday before he continues his foreign tour.
