Goading Gullible America Into War

We've learned nothing. Both parties have led our government to the edge of ruin, heavily indebted, growing dependency, a regulatory state so thick and gargantuan -- written by cronies via their monied lobbyists -- as to be completely indecipherable for the citizenry at large, endless war, endless interventions in every aspect of life at home and abroad, and yet we reelect incumbents at a 90% rate. Without a dramatic change in course, the future for young Americans will be less prosperous and less free than their grandparents. A good place to start the clean-up is to shut down the endless war demagogues. Then we can move on to crush the nanny-state, root out crony-capitalism, and overhaul the "entitlement" state. A fella can dream can't he?

As President Obama departed for Israel, there came a startling report. Bashar Assad's regime had used poison gas on Syrian rebels.

Two Israeli Cabinet members claimed credible evidence. Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said, "It's clear for us that (gas is) being used. ...This... should be on the table in the discussions."

Yet, 72 hours later, the United States still cannot confirm that gas was used, and Syria and Russia have called on U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to investigate whether it was used, and if so, by whom.

What's going on here?

It does not require Inspector Clouseau to surmise...
