The GOP's Mixed Outlook

Gerson is wrong! What good does it do to gain a Republican majority if it will simply continue the growth of government and subsequent decline of America? Better to vote for any candidate that you can believe will fight for returning the government to the original model created by the founding fathers for two reasons. 1. It tells the "mainstream" politicians that the people will not idly stand by while government erodes the public liberty to enrich government. 2. Take the case in Delaware as an example. If Castle were elected he would undoubtedly vote with the democrats as often as not and could not be trusted to go to battle to reduce the size and influence of government AND, because he would be the incumbent, he would be very...
Um yeah, they do. Heterosexuals and homosexuals both have the same right to marry. It's just that homosexuals desire to "marry" outside the bounds of what society has repeatedly defined marriage to be. Heterosexuals have no right to do that either (of course that presents no problem for heterosexuals because they have no desire to do so). Given the foregoing, how can you say that they do not share the same rights?

Tort Reform: Remedy or Red Herring?

First of all I haven't heard anyone talk about doing away with the right to sue for damages due to malpractice. What is being discussed is 1. the application of rational limits on non-economic damages such as pain and suffering
2. putting in disincentives to filing frivolous lawsuits such as if you lose, you pay the defense costs
3. perhaps reconsidering the contingency fee structure, maybe replacing it with a flat fee that is not based on the size of the award - or are you going to tell me that as a trial lawyer you would be less motivated to do your best for your client without the added profit motive provided by the contingency fee? Doesn't that sound as bad as what you accuse doctors of doing when you say they perform...

An Open Letter to American Jews

Although he wrote it long ago and didn't mean it necessarily in this application, I think Gordon Lightfoot couldn't have said it better not just to Jews but to all who voted for Obama when he wrote Race Among the Ruins:

You think you had the last laugh
Now you know that this can't be true
Even though the sun shines down upon you now
Sometimes you must feel blue
You make the best of each new day
You try not to be sad
Even though the sky falls down upon you
Call it midnight feeling bad

When you wake up to the promise
Of your dream world coming true
With one less friend to call on
Was it someone that I knew?
Away you will go sailing
In a race among the ruins
If you plan to face tomorrow,...

More Health Care Lies

Glenn76 Wrote: Jul 21, 2009 1:44 PM
Look deeper into the health care scam. The administration has to know that its plan will not accomplish the stated goals of reducing costs and providing care for everyone. So what is the real motivation? The only thing I can see is that once the "public option" becomes the only option the government will have acquired all the power necessary to fully control the lives of individuals. Using the rationale that they have to reduce health care costs, they will be able to pass laws dictating the lifestyles of individuals.

Question: Why are there seat belt laws in most states?

Answer: Because they are necessary to reduce the cost of auto insurance which the state requires all drivers to have. The government can not...

9,000,000,000,000 one dollar bills stacked on top of each other would form three stacks from the earth to the moon plus a quarter of another stack to the moon. Try and wrap your brain around that!

HPV Vaccine - What Parents Need to Know

Glenn76 Wrote: Aug 25, 2009 1:37 PM
Gardasil is a vaccine for HPV. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease, acquired the same way any other STD is. Being vaccinated for HPV does not prevent the other STD's and so does not remove significant risk from having unprotected sex. Taking the Gardasil shot and then having unprotected sex because you think you don't have to worry about HPV is like playing Russian roulette starting with a pistol with two bullets in it and feeling safe because you took one of the bullets out before putting the gun to your head.

The Fallacy of "Fairness": Part II

Glenn76 Wrote: Feb 10, 2010 1:41 PM
There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now...
Wow, you're right! I didn't calculate that in. Using the dem's logic, with all that extra spending we're bound to save even more! We'll be rollin' in cash in no time!
