Three points: 1) I could not care less what someone's sexual preference is unless I'm trying to lure them into my bed (and at my age, that's definitely not a high priority, especially when one considers the probability of success). 2) Most gay couples are producing emotionally and physically healthy children who lead happy, successful lives as adults. Plus they have the income to raise the children. 3) This is my biggie. I want those same-sex marriage couples to pay the same damn IRS' marriage tax we "straight"s have to pay! Upon marriage, if one spouse's income is considerably lower than the other spouse's, the two incomes are combined before the income bracket is determined. The new total tax is greater than the prior combined taxes.

I'm a retired biz prof. When I advised my students, I told them which profs to avoid because they were ineffective, outdated, or treated students badly. I also taught a small biz class where groups were required to write a biz plan for a start-up company to be implemented in the local area. These plans were than each reviewed by three local bankers, usually from large banks and responsible for reviewing the biz plans submitted to their respective banks. The groups also had to present their plans in front of these bankers, who would then critique their plans. Over 50% of these plans were used in the community and most of the resulting businesses are striving in spite of our current economy. I also taught MIS classes, which all the biz...
What is the percentage of these men who end up raped or dead? How many of these male-on-male attacks are when the victim is walking down a street alone or in a large parking lot ... alone? While your statistics are probably accurate, I imagine many of the male-on-male attacks occur in bars, playing fields for sports, et cetera.

Our welfare systems awards additional monies for each child born by a woman who is on welfare, thus providing an incentive to women to have additional children out of wedlock.

But we have no idea how many more births there MIGHT have been without abortion. Fortunately, that was a decision I never had to make. (I was one of those rare women of the '60's "sexual revolution" whose first experience of sexual intercourse was with my husband.) Perhaps we need to better educate our young women, if we're educating them at all, about the consequences, both physically and emotionally, of early sex and the birth control methods available to them if they do engage in sex. And we DO need to make single parenthood socially taboo again. Several cultures in the U.S. encourage and applaud single motherhood. Reversing that mindset would not be easy but it could be done.

If Social Security had not been dumped into the government's general fund but had originally had a fund set up for it that could only have been used for social security, it would probably not be in the trouble it is today. Congress would not have been able to use the funds for pork barrel projects or anything else their little hearts' desired. If my social security taxes had been invested with my IRA's, I would have a substantial "retirement pension." My IRA and 401k grew tremendously over the years. But my "investment" in social security has been disastrous.
Mr. Slacker, you forgot to include the most famous "Republican" of them all in your opening list: Bill Clinton. Let's face it, neither party has a monopoly on scandals, though the media is faster to point out those of the Republican persuasion than the Democrats. I don't think any of our current politicians of either party are wonderful role models for the youth of our country. The primary reason I voted for His Highness is I do not want the Supreme Court shifting to the right. I like the balance as is or maybe just a little more to the left. But don't delude yourself about Obama. No one, and I do mean no one, rises in Chicago politics without the consent of the Daley Machine. And one has to compromise his or her integrity and...
