Well, the problem is that the majority of Americans DO NOT fall into those 3 categories. Until the Republican Party starts making itself welcoming to people who do not, it's going to continue to have problems.

The Republicans ran essentially an 'All-White, All-Rich, All-Older' Convention, and now they are trying to figure out how to appeal to the majority of the American people who don't fall into those 3 categories? Good luck with that.

The Message Romney Missed

Romney was a badly flawed candidate who never really connected with the Republican base. An 'eastern liberal' who realized that he could never gain the Party's nomination unless he became a 'conservative' left a large block of Republicans seriously doubting him, and his 'message'. Many who voted for him did so 'holding their noses', or what was worse for Romney, simply didn't vote the top of the ticket at all. Losing the state of Florida epitomized everything that was wrong with his campaign, and should serve as a warning to the Party when they select their candidate for 2016.
