As a former Navy Small Arms instructor, I thought an "assault weapon" was something like a Mac-10, or Tech-9, or UZI - that the Secret Service can carry under their rain coats. "THEY" have re-defined an assault weapon as a semi-automatic gun with "military" appearance. Legal huning rifles AND shotguns have been defined as assault weapons because they shoot semi-automatic. We need SENTENCING LAWS that will get enforced for a crime involving a firearm.
