At least 2 of the union members who wouldn't accept the lower wages stated that they prefered to be unemployed rather than accept the lower wages. Nothing like biting yourself.

Dad said the UMWA (Coal miners' union) had more than a few like that. They would go out on a "wildcat" strike because they wanted a few days off to get drunk and go fishing. Since they tended to be young and single, they didn't care about having to feed a family.

Note that the first step in liquidation will be the firing of 15,000 workers including the closure of 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, approximately 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores.
