Most recently, I have been describing the positions of the political parties as being on a football field with the left end zone being socialism and the right end zone being a theocracy such as in Iran. I then place the democratic party on the 10-15 yard line on the left as they push toward that end zone. I then place the republican party on the 25-30 yard line as they push toward the left end zone. For myself, I place myself on the 35-40 yard line on the right side pulling with all my might against the leftward movement of both parties.
