Many progressive reporters and bloggers have been pushing the idea that going over the fiscal cliff into January will have very little effect on the economy and will actually help President Obama achieve his legislative goals. Indeed, Republican Sen. Barrasso hypothesized that President Obama was "eager" to go over the cliff.
Unfortunately, going over the fiscal cliff has real economic effects, and the progressives who are claiming otherwise are irresponsibly pushing the country to unnecessary economic pain.

Plan B was dropped in the House because Reid said he would not do anything with it, like he has done with all the other bills passed in the House. Reid has not let any of the House bills on the Senate floor for discussion or a vote. He has held up any prospect of economic recovery. Obama has failed to get Reid to work out bills for the people. Obama has also failed to get a budget passed. It has been more than 3 years without a budget and while it is required by law to have a budget passed each and every year. Failed leadership by Obama.
