Perhaps obama has not yet screwed up the country sufficiently badly. I remember when Mrs Thatcher was elected in the UK. We'd had 15 years of labour misrule. They had destroyed the Empire and reduced Britain to a third rate almost 3rd world basket case that had to go begging to the IMF for handouts. The unions ruled the country in all but name. It wasn't a democracy. Inflation was 10 - 15% and the pound was worth a little less every week. They had lost control of immigration. But it was that mess that allowed Mrs T to come to power. She stayed for 15 years. liberals still hate her. Only when the economy was finally on its feet again and the country had recovered, did people feel ready to experiment with labour again. My point is,

Actually when Meg took over Britain it was a DEMOCRACY and that is exactly where we are, MOB RULE. To H**L with the law or the Constitution we want our goodies and we will have them regardless of whether it will drive us into destruction or not.
This is the natural order of Nations. Slowly we drift into Socialism and each administration creates a bit more until we either Right the Ship of State or we go bankrupt and fall into some form of Anarchy. We are headed down that path. The only safe haven is a technology breakthrough that stops the crash. This four years will be a bumpier ride.

sometimes you need a severe setback to reassess your life and get on the road to recovery. As it is for individuals, so it is for countries. They say with an alcoholic, he can't be cured until he acknowledges there is a problem. Well socialism is about the most dangerous drug there is - it certainly kills more people than all the rest combined - but until the majority see how much harm it is doing, the country cannot recover.

Thank you sheepdog. I didn't know I was a liberal.

We spent billions of dollars and billions of words on an election to switch from President Obama, a Democratic Senate and a Republican House to President Obama, a Democratic Senate and a Republican House.

Every election predictor was wrong, except one: Incumbents usually win.

Republicans have taken out a sitting president only once in the last century, and that was in 1980 when Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter. Sadly, Reagan's record remains secure.

The Democrats ran up against the incumbency problem in 2004. The landslide election for Democrats in 2006 suggests that Americans were not thrilled with...
