Common Defense: In Crisis, America Buys Guns, Hurray!

The sale of both long and short guns has been steadily increasing, not only in Denver, but all over the country. This seems like a good thing to me. When we next need armed minute-men, they will be available. I imagine that most areas of the United States could quickly organize a militia, if one should be needed.

The problem is G1, we the people, are essentially armed with modern day Kentucky long rifles. The government has tanks, bombers, attack jets, artillery, machine guns, and years of training; and they don't have to spend a month in a leaky boat to get here. This ain't 1776 any more.

Further, compared to our forefathers, we are soft, wimpy, sad excuses for human beings. A couple of days in the field would kill most of us.

The "Government" is us. I am currently in the military and work part time security. I have never met even ONE military, police or security person that would obey any law to go disarm a law abiding citizen. And we sure as hell are not going to attack our fellow citizens.

Well, that may be true, but don't tell that to the residents of New Orleans during the aftermath of Katrina. Police and National Guard troops rounded up law abiding citizens and their weapons. They would pull up, ask "is anyone injured" as they busted down the door. Terrorizing American citizens.

And don't tell me, well, that was the National Guard. Who do you think did much of the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?

It has already happened in this country, A.

You haven't met enough cops, then. Most would do so once emboldened with the romantic motivation of maintaining "peace and order".

Activated,

Let’s hope you and your kind are in the majority!

Does the military still include in training that only lawful orders are obeyed?

Weren't you watching the footage from Hurricane Katrina? There were plenty of them disarming the law abiding citizens down there.

While the Left looks for more reasons to restrict our right to self defense every time an infamous shooting occurs, the standard reaction of the general population in Colorado is to stock up on guns and ammo in self defense.

It’s a reaction that’s uniquely American, where every man’s a captain. But it’s also a reaction that has a long history in the West, a history we should be proud of.

And when I say the West I really mean everywhere in America. Because at one time or another in our history everywhere from the tidewater on the east...
