Abortion and Rape

Sorry Judge, I can't see where your biological or theological expertise is much better than Akin's presumptions. Your entire argument requires acceptance of the idea that a dependent fetus is a bona fide member of the human (or any other) species. Most likely you subscribe to the idea that homo sapiens has a God-given "soul" and is thus Special, and you don't worry about those chicken fetuses you devoured for breakfast. You need to explain why God irrevocably endowed a fetus with a 'soul' at the moment of conception instead of at the first contraction, or even postnatally. Riding around in a semi-coma (?) for nine months seems like a monumental waste of time to me. If the fetus had originated with sperm cell "B" instead of sperm cell "

Those "chicken fetuses" you say he ate for breakfast...I assume you are speaking of "eggs"? Because that is ALL they are, eggs. They are not fetuses...they are not even embryos...they are NOT fertilized. So they are "eggs".

I eat fully grown adult chickens. They're not people.

So if it is perfectly acceptable to kill someone in a so-called "semi-coma," does that mean that we should also be killing people who are in actual comas as well? Your argument is nonsense in any case, as a comatose patient is non-responsive to external stimulus. A child in the womb absolutely is responsive - just ask any pregnant woman.

If it's OK to kill anybody in a "semi-coma", then we should kill all alcoholics and druggies. And 0bama voters.

Now, now! Let's not limit ourselves! I don't consider any lefty-marxist libs to be persons. I determined that. So...what's the next logical step??

And all of the Yes We Can chanters. Chanters have no brain waves it has been scientifically proven.

Semi-coma?? Good God what are you, stupid or something?

I've carried four children to term. I assure you, they were NEVER in a semi-comatose state. They slept, they hiccuped, they moved, and rolled, and tumbled. They reacted to loud noises, responded when poked by myself, a sibling, or my husband. When lying down I once saw my youngest son leap and in so doing make my lower abdomen bump up before I was even 'showing'.

Those kids were never any different after birth than before. They were never at any time anything 'alien' or 'other'. All were and are precious to my husband and myself.

I suggest you read a biology book sometime.

It wouldn't make any difference--in order to read one must be able to THINK.

I think he was a polliwog and now he is a toad.
Gene222 Wrote: Aug 23, 2012 3:11 PM
....sperm cell "A", would it have a different 'soul?'
Is there some good reason why God is unable to move a soul from one fetus (that may not live) to some other
fetus that happens to be coming along? And so on. Please develop your thesis a little more.

You must have graduated from public schools...

So, dependence on the Mother is the criteria you choose? Then in your mind, killing an infant or child is OK as long as it's dependent on someone else? When does that dependence end?
Doug5049 Wrote: Aug 23, 2012 4:15 PM
We'd have to kill all 0bama voters. They depend on government to feed them, clothe them, and put them to bed at night.

Presumptions? YOU'RE the one who states "Mostly likely you subscribe to blah blah blah".

At what point in the gestation of the product of human ovum and human sperm is it possible that anything other than a human will result? When have you ever seen a human give birth to a puppy or an iguana? Or a chestnut? Humans have human babies. That's the premise. Dispute that.

Humans are special because WE, as humans, deem humans to be special. Who should give a rat sass if God invisibly imbued anyone with anything? Its a ridiculous scenario that no amount of forensics will ever prove, therefore it is irrelevent. But if you cannot stand up for the protection of your own species at its most innocent and weakest state, why bother protecting anyone?
Marie150 Wrote: Aug 23, 2012 6:09 PM
Blah blah blah gene. You are not a bonifide member of the human race because you are stupid enough to believe that you have said something that no one has ever heard from a heartless atheist before.

And there is a very good chance that God is real.

The criticisms of the recent absurd comments by Missouri Republican Congressman Todd Akin, who at this writing is his party's nominee to take on incumbent Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in November in a contest he had been expected to win, have focused on his clearly erroneous understanding of the human female anatomy. In a now infamous statement, in which he used the bizarre and unheard-of phrase "legitimate rape," the congressman gave the impression that some rapes of women are not mentally or seriously resisted. This is an antediluvian and misogynistic myth for which there is no basis in fact and...
