Putin has one merit over the NATO leaders, a promise to a friend (e.g. Assad) he will keep. Also, a promise to an enemy, he will also keep. With Putin, you don't look over your shoulder, whatever he gave his word on, you can count on it.

It is a series of actions. Amnesty insist on a non-conditional release. The Russians can't release them, the Russians didn't even want to arrest them. Amnesty organized this stunt, as part of their gay rights campaigning.

They really are a hate movement, for e.g. the destruction of the memorial to the victims of the NKVD in Kiev has not been condemned by other parts of the P*ssy R*ot solidarity campaign, which is lead by Amnesty International. When Amnesty ousted the Catholics who founded their movement and replaced them with radical gays, the contest could only be bitter and without end. Amnesty have expanded the issue by including Orthodoxy and exporting the struggle.

I've seen the legal papers. In the west, technically open ended contempt based loss of liberty would not be out of the question. These are people who want the state to say sorry the culprits. So, it is not a case of they did it, they are sorry, let them go. The cathedral came under constant attack without any arrests. For e.g. naked lunatics in December 2011, and something had to be done. The P*ssy R*ot arrests came after numerous complaints. The authorities in Russia, ignored the issue, but were forced to act. Also it is clear western govts are involved. Why should every NATO foreign minister and the President of the USA issue statements within hours of each other? None of the statements put a duty of contrition on the culprits

Article 18 UDHR means you don't have to hear P*ssy R*ot in your church. The people behind the protests hate organized religion. Frozen chickens are also in some danger.

When Stalin didn't like a joke he murdered the entire class of people of which the joker emanated. With Putin, he gives you two or three chances to say sorry and if one promises not to do sex acts with frozen chickens ( unreal isn't it?) and avoid churches for a few months, you are in the clear.

The solidarity campaign for P Riot destroyed a memorial In Kiev to the Transcarpathian victims of Soviet era mass killings a few days ago, what else do you need to know? The cause of the victims has passed to Orthodoxy, because the NKVD liquidated the original victim demographic. PRiot are not victims, they are a part of a very small movement directed towards public sex. It is an Amnesty International kind of thing. Party paid for by US tax dollars.

The same cathedral was attacked in December, 2011 by naked protesters, the police declined to prosecute, eventually they had no choice.

The stunts are organized by a western NGO, they are the orphan children of Amnesty International, they are the soundtrack to the al Qaeda assault on Aleppo, which is why President Obama, and the NATO foreign ministers issued a statement about the band within hours of each other. The good news is that the average P*** Riot demo in Moscow rarely exceeds a dozen to two dozen people, most of whom are linked to Amnesty, FEMEN, or public gay encounter groups.
