Mr. Thomas, your premise is that elitists like Obama are naive and ignorant of the facts. That may be true of Americans in general. But Obama knows he could never deliver on his promises. His premise is true because the left that are cognizant of the actual agenda realize they're heading towards socialism onward to communism, but their answer when you confront them with the historical results is that it just hasn't been done correctly yet. I like to explain to them some conditions in North Korea where Christians are put into labor camps if not killed, but no amount of facts will persuade them from their error and delusion.

There is some truth to this - the wild-eyed following from unthinking people. The slavering desire for a mere man to fix everyone's problems. If the US economy collapses due to our debt, there will be an even greater call for such a person to step forward.

The political slogan "Forward" served Barack Obama well during this year's election campaign. It said that he was for going forward, while Republicans were for "going back to the failed policies that got us into this mess in the first place."

It was great political rhetoric and great political theater. Moreover, the Republicans did virtually nothing to challenge its shaky assumptions with a few hard facts that could have made those assumptions collapse like a house of cards.

More is involved than this year's political battles. The word "forward" has been a political battle cry on the left for...
