Cutting aside all the personalities and kabuki, most of the rhetoric about the cliff negotiations revolve around new taxing schemes, specifically to make the rich pay their 'fair share' while 40 something % pay NOTHING. Speaking for myself, I want to see EVERYONE paying a flat tax, and I want to see the Depts of Energy and Education shuttered, ELIMINATED. Americas will never have any commonality until we ALL have common stake in deficit spending and the national debt. Cutting Energy and Education will not impair the US whatsoever except for increasing unemployment inside the beltway. If we can not accomplish these things, let the Demoncrats clearly own the trip over the cliff and explain why their tax and spend policies failed.

The crisis du jour in Washington now dominating the news, the so-called “fiscal cliff”, is but the latest in seemingly endless political crises that we shouldn’t be having.

We get two different kinds of problems in life. The real ones – the struggle to work and improve the quality of our lives – and the ones we bring on ourselves through poor behavior.

The more time we must deal with the latter type, the less time and energy we have to deal with life’s real problems and challenges.

The political crises which emanate from Washington are invariably problems...
