While we're on the slippery slope chasing the spilled milk, a question came to me: Since sue can now legally marry Mary, and since Paul can now become the legal wife of Mike, and if it is true that a dog is man's best friend, how long will it be before I can marry Hairy my pet poodle ? Mr. Brown, you have it exactly correct ! Until it is legally recognized that 'MARRIAGE' is a sacrament of the Church between one man and one woman, the barn door is wide open to any 'union' between any living things, more or less just as Justice Scalia wisely opined. WAKE UP friends ! Until a Tea Party type President is elected (with majorities in both chambers) the liberal agenda will just grind on and on. Rubio for VP !

People "marry" their pets today. Some "marry" their cars.

One way to protect Christian marriage. Get the government out of the marriage business completely.

Why do so many Christians think marriage is not legitimate unless blessed by the government?

If marriage isn't defined by society (not religion), then it's just a preference....if monks think marriage is to a piece of clothing, christians to a man and woman, wickens to a broomstick, then the word marriage means NOTHING.

The govt will have to kill me before I accept its authority to dictate the meaning of marriage.

If different religions have different definitions for it, then perhaps, for a government that is *forbidden* from favoring one establishment of religion over another, it should mean nothing.

By the way, government is not "society". It is only one part of it. Ideally, it should only be a small part.

In case you haven’t heard, some of the stars of the popular TV show “Sister Wives” are suing the state of Utah, arguing that its laws against bigamy are unconstitutional. And just last week, a reporter asked White House press secretary Jay Carney, “How does the president stand on polygamy?”

Polygamy? Are you kidding?

Not surprisingly, Carney ignored the question, but it is a question he won’t be able to ignore for long. In an extensive, feature article, Time magazine described how “once secretive plural families like the Dargers of Utah [also part of “Sister Wives”] are coming out of...
