Abortion was the first step down the slippery slope of playing god. Add socialized medicine to a culture of death, and you will have people being "put down" against their will. Subtle and not-so-subtle pressure will be put on older people to ask to be "offed" when they are ill, disabled or debilitated by stroke and disease. The poor and handicapped will be especially pressured in old age to allow themselves to be "put out of their misery." It's going to be a brave new world. And, of course, sick and handicapped babies will be "euthanized" as well. I'd give it 20 years (max), if we're still around then.

What is your evidence that this is becoming a trend? If you believe this, that's one thing. But if you just assume or fear this, that's another. I try not to make predictions about the future because as we've seen from the 2012 Maya doomsday believers, extremes tend to be wrong.

As a candidate for president of the United States, it is incumbent on me to make a statement regarding the Sandy Hook massacre and to explain how my policies would help prevent other such massacres should I become president. As I discuss this sensitive topic, it is also incumbent on me to sound more rational and articulate than the incumbent. That will not be difficult.
