Is Your Doctor Really A Doctor?

We have less drug resistance in this country, than most other countries due to the judicious use of antibiotics. Unfortunately Doug5409 family medicine is not as easy as you might think
Is Ric 17 saying that all doctors when they work kill patients at a higher rate than when they don't? Where does he get his information from? No doctor goes into this profession to kill people. Many of us said years ago that we wanted to be doctors to help people. Now all we are are villianized professionals. No one undergoes scruitiny like a doctor does.

Healthcare and Politics Do Not Mix

These governors are not taking into the account that there is a severe doctor shortage in the US. It is OK in their minds to expand medicaid coverage, but who will see them. Many doctors do not take medicaid because the reimbursement takes months to receive and is usually substandard compared to most insurance policies. It is difficult to practice medicine when your reimbursement is less than the cost of practicing medicine.
I disagree, there is a doctor shortage. Why do you think the states are passing laws allowing physician extenders to have the same rites as doctors. Why is there a minute clinic on many street corner providing services that were once done by doctors. It is because there is a shortage. The government has very little respect for doctors. As Dr. Scherz points out, doctors are going to be treated as footnotes of this massive beaurocracy, and will only be able to carry out medical care if it is authorized by the secretary of health and human service's protocols
Most American's are not aware of the doctor shortage that is here. If there is no insentive to go into medicine, i.e. good financial return, than good students will not go into medicine. They will go into veterinary medicine which is not regulated, or some field which is totally not related to healthcare to make money. Medicine is too expensive of a road to go down, and too much of a comittment if there is no reward in the end.
I believe that Dr. Scherz is trying to say regarding health insurance vs. pre paid health is that health insurance is not treated as insurance, a safety net to prevent financial ruin incase of an illness, rather it has become an expectation to have insurance pay for every cent of our healthcare need. Just think of how much home owner's insurance would be if the same expectation was there.
Men better wake up. The USPSTF made these horrible recommendations regarding breast cancer. No need to screen under 50. Every other year after 50. Women rose to the occasion, and not one insurance company, or professional agency took the recommendation serious. In my experience, men are complacent with this issue. This is not a stupid tax that we can live with, this is life!! The AUA cannot fight this battle alone. Other organizations need to scrutinize this recommendation, but they won't unless men start speaking up.
