You asked ... "How many websites are out there that allow this particular feature in the comments section that aren't conservative?"

...only one that is whining and complaining that other people shouldn't be allowed to do the exact same thing they do (censor), lol

But I love the attempt to shift the discussion away from "do as I say, not as I do" to "everybody else is doing it, so that makes it alright"...

...you guys are too funny :)~

You write ... "If I thought that it would be worth flagging your comments as offensive, then I'd be a liberal."

...oh that's too funny!!!

Because the simple fact of the matter is that Dr Mike's conservative readers hit the "flag as offensive" button all the time to remove (unoffensive) liberal comments from these discussions... so much so that it is nearly impossible to follow any of the discussions in their entirety.

And Dr Mike himself summed the situation up perfectly ... "Second, it empowers people to trump the speech of others by pretending to be offended. When this occurs, the speech code is rewarding more than just the intellectually inferior – it is rewarding the morally inferior. It is using faux outrage to...

...so Mike is outraged that a university would ban offensive and inappropriate comments on campus, but he wholeheartedly supports the following posting policies on this very site:
.
"Offensive, harmful, obscene, indecent, illegal, abusive comments ... will not be tolerated."
.
"Townhall.com retains the right to review and remove any content submitted for posting to Townhall.com that the Townhall.com, in its sole discretion, deems to be inappropriate, offensive, harmful, obscene, indecent..."

...can anybody say, oh, ummm, hypocrite?!

...since Townhall.com's own "inappropriate" and "offensive" speech policies are apparently no different than the University of Northern Colorado's ... here's how Mike's article would read if you simply replace "UNCO" with "Townhall.com"
.
...enjoy, lol
.
"In my view, there are at least three fundamental dangers associated with the [Townhall.com] speech code.

First, and perhaps most obviously, it empowers people to trump the speech of others by simply becoming offended. So it really protects and defends the speech of those least able to protect and defend their own speech through reasoned discourse. It is not often that the speech of the emotionally frail has much merit. People who fall apart emotionally in...

Dr Adams writes: "In my view, there are at least three fundamental dangers associated with the UNCO speech code. ... First, and perhaps most obviously, it empowers people to trump the speech of others by simply becoming offended. ... People who fall apart emotionally in response to protected speech are unlikely to have the intellectual firepower needed to articulate ideas ... Second, it empowers people to trump the speech of others by pretending to be offended."

.

...so why is this ironic, you ask???

Please note the "flag as offensive" icon posted directly under every single post in this discussion, lol...!!!

Here's a portion of the actual policy (site won't let me post the entire document). The University's policy is simply an extension of Colorado state law:

"""Bias-motivated crimes are defined as an unlawful discriminatory act on
University-owned property or at University-sponsored or University-supervised functions
or facilities of recognized student organizations. In Colorado, a criminal offense
committed against a person or property which is motivated, in whole or part, by the
offender’s bias towards a race, religion, ancestry, ethnic/national origin, physical or
mental ability, or sexual orientation is a bias-motivated crime. All suspected biasmotivated
crimes will be reported to the University of Northern...

****"Dr. Adams always preaching opinions not teaching in his class".... How do you know this?

Did you take his class or hear from students who complain about this?

Or is it one of those wild unfounded "assumptions"?****

For starters, if you're going to quote me, quote my words not your own ("He seems more concerned about "preaching" his opinions than "teaching" the subject material." is what "I" wrote)

So to answer your question ... I've been reading Mike's posts over the last year or so, and all of the activities and guest speakers Mike talks about using in his class seem to have relatively little or nothing to do with criminology.

His lectures at other UNC campuses have nothing to do with...

I agree with you whole heartedly that higher education is a business.

I have to disagree with you, however, that businesses are not allowed to dictate what sort of conduct they will and will not allow on their premises.

As a college student myself, I am much more concerned about issues like incompetent instructors/professors, textbook prices, and not receiving the education or instruction that I'm paying for.

Neither liberal nor conservative views have a place in the classroom ... and that's what I can't understand about Dr. Adams. He seems more concerned about "preaching" his opinions than "teaching" the subject material.
