Ron Paul Says Goodbye

Could we at least put one falsehood to rest? The Constitution says Congress is the body that declares war. Not the President - Agrees with Ron Paul. When Congress declares war, the president has the duty as Commander in Chief - Agrees with Ron Paul. America needs a strong military for national defense - Agrees with Ron Paul. Nation building is not the purpose of our military - Agrees with Ron Paul. Having military bases around the globe are costly and unnecessary because modern technology no longer requires us to be everywhere. We can get there quickly. - Agrees with Ron Paul. Better intelligence is superior strategy than having soldiers playing cards in 190 countries for decades. - Agrees with Ron Paul.

U.S. military bases are welcome in places where the natives are more than happy to have the United States protecting them for free.

We don't need to support Israel as we have been. They are capable of defending themselves. We need to support them when they feel they have to, and not keep telling them to just learn to live with missles coming over the fence. - Agrees with Ron P

Some bases cause the natives to think of us as an empire. Ready to squash anyone getting out of line. Causing the natives to wonder if the United States has had a direct impact on who their government serves. Has the United States supported foreign dictators in the past?

Do radicals hate the United States more for movies about Islam or supporting Israel?

Nope. Congress gave Bush permission to go after those responsibile for 911. But we got suckered into a military occupation and the longest war in American history.

My recollection is that Bush wanted to go into Iraq because of our duty as members of the UN. Saddam had violated 17 UN resolutions. Congress would not go along with it until months later when we added incentive by arguing that Saddam was working on obtaining weapons of mass destruction and that his country supported terrorism, at least financially. Remember Hillary's testimony that Saddam was working on getting them?

Presidential candidate and long time Representative Ron Paul said goodbye yesterday on the House floor as he prepares to make his exit from Congress after 23 years. He explained his consistent views throughout the past two decades and berated Washington for refusing to change or make hard decisions when it comes to the future.

As the father of what many characterize as the buoyant, bi-partisan New Liberty Movement, Paul shared “the plain truth” about Washington, America’s current national crisis and the greatest threats to the future.

Paul began by explaining his goals in 1976:...
