"Seems to"? The issue is about a CIA operation that may not have been technically operational. That's the only thing Mr. Tyrrell got right.

But, having read Mr. Tyrrell's stuff before, that comes as no surprise.

Because I just saw an article on the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.

Obama Stands in the Way of Our Energy Future

"Successful deployment of renewable sources like wind and solar depend on the backup of hydro, nuclear and gas facilities that can be turned up when needed. American can’t depend upon one answer to our future energy needs, we must pursue all our options"

From what I can tell, your voting record suggests you think otherwise.

Voted NO on tax incentives for energy production and conservation. (May 2008)
Voted NO on tax incentives for renewable energy. (Feb 2008)
Voted NO on investing in homegrown biofuel. (Aug 2007)
(Well, I'll grant you this one. No complaints from me on opposing biofuel.)
Voted NO on raising CAFE standards; incentives for alternative fuels. (Aug 2001)

"1.2 million new, well-paying jobs annually across the country and $70 billion in additional wages each year (source: American Energy Alliance). And it also prevents the federal government from receiving over $2.2 trillion in total tax receipts"

The American Energy Alliance's figures don't add up.

Germany is a leader in cutting its carbon emissions. It cut them by about a sixth, more than anyone else in Europe.

(Man, the TH servers really suck today. This is the third time I've tried to post this.)

That's a good argument against anyone who claims that CO2 is the only, or the always dominant, influence on temperature. No one claims that.

I found a 2007 paper by Armagh researcher Emma Reilly, but it doesn't really support your premise. According to her figures, solar activity has been decreasing since 1990. Meanwhile, the Earth definitely warmed between 1990 and 2000, and probably between 2000 and 2005 (NASA rates 2005 the warmest year on record worldwide). Did the Earth just not notice that the sun was cooling down? Like I said, something else is going on.

OK, show me the chart that shows the solar variations of the last thirty years or so and how they correspond to temperature changes over the same period. The sun can't be causing the change if it's not changing.

Having said that, solar change is probably contributing to current cooling (La Nina accounts for the rest), but for about twenty years prior, it was stable while the terrestrial temperature was increasing. Obviously something else is going on.

"Look up Maunder Minimum, Medieval Warming and Little Ice Age."

I have. So? If you're trying to say that it happened naturally then so it's happening naturally now, that makes about as much sense as saying that no one died from guns before 1300, therefore no one can die from gun violence now.

I'm perfectly happy to consider the possibility that the warming is from a natural cause. So, what's the natural cause?
