Mike, Your investment mix isn't working, so far. Some day you will be right. Then you can say "I told you so."

The QE Debate

What was written by Sashamanda that is wrong? Both Dems and Repubs are culprits in this long term mess.
Mish, I support the sound dollar idea. The idea that getting rid of fractional reserve lending is part of the equation makes no sense. Having banks keep 12-15% of money in reserve is plenty. The problems occur when banks use 30 or 40:1 leverage. 6 - 8:1 leverage is not a problem as long as the credit quality is reasonable. I don't think we will see the problems with improper ratings on packaged securities as we did in the 2000s.
So, you want them to spend $80 or $100 billion/year and toss twice as many people in jail while you sip your drink and feel smug about yourself. You want even more police power and swat teams roaming neighborhoods. Get real. We could spend $1 trillion and people would still do them. Regardless, ending the W on D will reduce violent crime significantly by taking the money out of drugs. More young kids won't see the local guy making money dealing and will follow another path.

The Part B premium is exactly 1/4 of the cost of part B as set by law. Part D has been expanded significantly by the ACA and will now cost gazillions more than first calculated, but then they all work that way. That's why the vote was so abominable.

I should have written that it was the largest expansion at that time.

Au Contrair Davole. OBAMA! is the same. As noted above in my reply to "lemmi" OBAMA!'s rhetoric is different than his actions. He says he's a factual, objective, non-partisan guy when his actions show the exact opposite.

When Did Milk Become Bad for You?

FreeThinkerGuy Wrote: Aug 13, 2012 11:16 AM
Why is it that humans are the only animals that drink milk after weaning? Do you see gorillas needing milk to build strong bones? While raw milk isn't as bad as the govt authorized stuff, it's not necessary for good health or strong bones. Milk is sold as is because of the dairy industrial complex. They've gone along w/ the govt so as to get the subsidies. End of story.
You guys are all so funny. Remember, when one resorts to name calling one has lost the argument. Each of you has failed to rebut my statements: Reagan said he would eliminate the dept of Ed and didn't even try. He punted big time on Soc Sec. Why don't you just admit that and move on. As to your comments about running a "donut shop," I run a multi-million dollar investment advisory business and have voted libertarian for as long as I can remember. What's really funny about "conservatives" is that they don't even realize they are just as bad as the "liberals" in terms of govt spending. It's just different spending, unless one is named George Bush, then it's the same.
Methinks rather than launching fruitless attaches, SageAdvice 12 might consult some history books. Reagan ran on eliminating the Dept of Ed and failed to even write a bill that could have been introduced. He did blink, with RINO Dole, in kicking the can down the road w/ Soc Sec. He could have stood his ground and leveled w/ the Am people about where soc sec was eventually headed (they all knew it at the time but preferred to cut a deal with Mitchell and Rostenkowski so they could go have a drink). And yes, most "conservatives" do revere Reagan as a God. All one has to do is to tune into most mainstream republican talk radio/TV. Reagan has his good points, certainly, but he wasn't a republican in the Barry Goldwater mold.
John, generally good stuff except for that blarney about Reagan overhauling Soc Sec w/ the dems. That bill was nothing more than a "tax 'em more, kick it down the road" legislation. Well, we are now "down the road" and Soc sec/Medicare is still a budget busting mess. Reagan had a chance to really do something by eliminating the dept of Ed and privatizing soc sec and he blinked. Please get off this worship of RR. He was no god nor a true republicans, having significantly raised taxes 3 times in his admin and acquiescing to the democrats in Congress to continue the vast overspending.
