Egypt (and the Middle East) has been a human catastrophe for about 6,000 years. Don't expect this latest turn of events to change anything. Arabs and Persians are culturally incapable of making progress in human rights. I've worked in the Middle East many times. It's a toxic Super Fund landfill without redeeming value.

It looks like a military coup against Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi is underway, with communications with the president cut off and tanks on the move outside Cairo.

Predictably, the Obama administration's efforts to practive a "nuanced" foreign policy end up leaving America worse off than it could otherwise be.
