Saving the Soul of the Religious Left

It never fails to both amuse and sadden me that in so many African-American churches wherein I've had the privilege of speaking there is an obvious tension between the what the Bible is saying and how congregants are interpreting it both politically and in how they live. I'd say 90% of all Black pastors live conservative lives, but preach moderate to left wing in their politcal worldviews. So, it is unsuprising that the typical Black congregation is full of the multi-divorced, the never married with children, the shacked-up with children, grandparents raising young ones, the statistics on abortion are enough to cry "Black Holocaust", the murder rate in most Black communities with churches galore doesn't seem to have any noticeable...
