Obama's foreign policy has been incredibly distructive. We can't change that much for 2.5 more years. However, America can regain stature and importance by leading the world on campaign to live within our means. The population amazingly understands that everything in the U.S. private sector has been or is about to be rationalized and that the only task left is to tackle runaway government. The primaries and midterm elections show they are ready to send a new group of freshman zealots to Washington who will not be beholding to their party but their mandate by the people to cut spending. This will be political cover for European and other governments to do the same.
