To turn this economy around, we need a massive increase in consumer confidence similar to what was inspired by Reagan. Obama's fear mongering and class warfare rhetoric can become a self fulfilling prophecy.

If you recall, the media headlines from 2005 forward reported how the economy was crashing and unemployment was increasing (all lies at the time). The repetition of this message I believe helped along the self-fulfilling prophecy we see today. I'm not sure even Reagan could talk over or around what we have today, but I wasn't old enough to appreciate the historical significance of Reagan's handling of the media, either.

It’s one thing for a politician to “massage” the truth ... it happens all the time. But it’s quite another for one to so brazenly repeat an easily disprovable lie.

But, as in the case of President Obama and sequestration, when the fear of being caught in a lie is removed because those charged with being “watchdogs” are active participants, brazenly lying carries no more risk than saying “hello.”
