John from Massachusetts is on point. There is ample research that says Conservative Christians give far and away more money to charity than do other groups. That statement is true even when money given to the church, itself, is subtracted. That has been pointed out over and over and one atheist/agnostic researcher (Jonathan Haidt...Happiness Hypothesis) noted that the fact Christians give more to the poor than any other group is so well established that people who deny it have no credibility. By the way....in regards to the anti-Christian comments being made....it is weird to be quoting Martin Luther King (a Christian although a flawed one like all of us) to try to prove how bad Christians are. It was King's faith that drove him....

From President to Pundit

Steve Chapman is someone who was way too "pro-Obama" from the beginning. Then Senator Obama did have a record and it was very liberal. The fact that he was rarely confronted with his record by the mainstream media does not mean that he was not very biased. Senator McCain has always been much more willing to work across the aisle than President Obama. I think Mr. Chapman spends a lot of time justifying his own poor judgment in the last campaign and then has to bring George W. Bush into it again. In reality, President Bush has always acted much more civilly than almost any other President. President Obama is very partisan and that has always been very clear to anyone who wanted to look. In this instance, he was again trying to play to his...

Obama, Science and God

The idea that Francis Collins is not respected by the majority of his scientific peers is pretty ludicrous, really. Even Richard Dawkins, well known atheist and author of the God Delusion, etc. has noted that Francis Collins is the exception to his own beliefs that theists do not make good scientists. When asked, Dawkins noted that he recognizes that Collins is an outstanding scientist who has beliefs that are very different from his own in regards to God. It is also interesting to hear the critiques of Collins by some Christians who seem to love C.S. Lewis, one of Collins' own theological heroes. Collins spends so much time quoting Lewis in his book, The Language of God, that Lewis' estate should be receiving royalties from the book....

The Mystery of Sonia Sotomayor

Fraulien Wrote: Jul 15, 2009 10:28 AM
I agree that this article seems to have no particular point to it. I also find it ironic that the concept for Nancy Drew and the outline for almost all the Nancy Drew stories were written by a man, the same author who created the Hardy Boys. Although most of the early stories were fleshed out by a woman, others were written by men (which would seem to contradict Judge Sotamayor's whole point about needing to be from a certain background to "really understand". It is also interesting that some critics see Nancy's primary draw as being not just her independence but the fact that she was from a very wealthy family and was "perfect" in everything. How any of this relates to Judge Sotamayor is beyond me. However, perhaps Ms. Parker did not...

The Secret of Palin's Staying Power

I am not a huge Palin supporter as a politician. I do like her very much as a person (from what I can see). Articles like this are remarkably shallow, however. Chapman and Parker must write for each other, because neither of them are particularly insightful or particularly conservative. Palin was one of the only ones who consistently espoused conservative principles. She was also treated very unfairly by the liberal media. When people perceive someone from "their group" being attacked unfairly, it tends to encourage support as opposed to discouraging it. I am sure the fact that Ms. Palin is attractive is helpful to her. However, this article is just another example of someone who dislikes Sarah Palin taking an opportunity to...
I agree with Mr. Prager that not publishing the cartoons was wrong. Certainly, it makes it difficult to determine what the brouhaha was about. However, outside of being cowardly, I also think that Yale and other universities do these things out of some need to continue to push multiculturalism. They certainly never show the same concern when it comes to Christianity.
