I suspect that this New York legislation will end up in the Supreme Court and if that august body has any integrity and crediblity it will be overturned.

If the Supreme Court gets the case, I'm hoping they will support the idea of citizens being licensed to own guns (not felons or madmen) but not allow the states or federal government to keep track of what guns a licensed owner has or how many they have. Anything else defeats the purpose of the 2nd Amendment as it allows a would-be tyrant to simply confiscate "licensed" guns from their known owners.
