You nailed it! Now let's have a balanced budget amendment based on a percentqage of GDP of the average of the preceding 5 years. If they want more revenue they have to get off the backs of business to let the economy grow. That along with a cap on spending and a sales tax divided to support each level of government so you can see the rate on your regester receipt. Most current taxes are hidden from view and we have no idea what we are paying.. Limit tax to the final consumer who is paying it all now. Corporate tax is a scam, it is passed on the the final consumer.

You are entirely correct. With no skin in the game they vote for people who will give them "free stuff". The problem is that it is not free. Those who are productive lose the fruits of their labors so the politicians can buy votes with "free stuff".

A petition is somewhat like a protection order. It won't stop a bullet. That said, I think the best way is to petition our state legislatures to take specific actions. For example; a balanced budget amendment resolution. They are closer to home and that makes it easier to twist their tails. An amendemnt requiring that the budget be balanced and based on a percentage of GDP with a cap on spending would be a very good thing. The language could also contain a requirement to use a specific portion of revenue to pay off the national debt, which should not exist. If the majority of states act, it will be most difficult to ignore.

I see all the common misunderstandings about taxes here. Our tax system is like the layers of an onion. Everything is taxed from point of origin to point of sale. when you buy a carton of milk the taxes paid by the farmer, the producer, the wholesaler and the retailer are included in the purchase price. They don't have a magic tax money barrel they pass those taxes on to the final consumer. The only fair way to tax is a sales tax to be divided by the various levels of government. That way you see your tax rate right on your register receipt. At the moment most taxes are hidden and you have no idea that you are paying them. I suspect we are paying in excess of 65% if you work for a living.

Children are precious and should be protected. However, a gun does not kill without a little help from a human being. If you want to fix the problem look at the people who cause them, not the tools they use. Using the logic of banning objects we would not be allowed to have automobiles. How many children die on our roads? If this had been a school bus driven by a suicidal driver that took children with him would we be talking about banning school buses? Wait until we know more about what preceded this terrible atrocity. What kind of meds was this shooter on? What was his exposure to violence, real or imaginary. What happened to him that made him choose to do this?
Wow! what an intellect. Now would you please explain how borrowing more money and spending it will get us out of debt? Is there some form of new math? Also, I can't quite figure out how reaching in to grab a baby by the leg, dragging him/her out with the back of his or her head exposed and using surgical suction to remove the brain is not murder when pulling it all the way out and doing the same thing is. Please exsplain that to me as well.
OK, one more time. Corporations do not pay taxes no matter what the rate. Corporations pay operating expenses which is what a tax is to them. They add the tax to the price of their product or service and pass it on. Those taxes are paid by the final purchaser of that product or service. That happens to be YOU ! Get it? Corporate tax is a scam by the government to hide the fact that they are milking you.
