Besides not being able to make a compelling case against Obama, the GOP cannot unify against Obama because RINOs are really for more, big Unconstitutional government & the voters are not given a clear choice of small, Constitutional government vs big, Unconstitutional government. Reagan might not have been 100% consistent in what he did, but he clearly called for smaller government, more self reliance and he clearly warned about the dangers from big government and government dependency. That's why the big government loving GOP Establishment worked so hard to try & stop Reagan.

"First you win the argument -- then you win the vote," is the now well-known quote from Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. President Ronald Reagan was the last Republican president who understood and used that strategy.

President Barack Obama and his team also understand the phrase and are using it to their advantage. They are making a full-court press in the public arena to lay out their argument against sequestration and for more taxes.
