I am a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and I was riveted to the screen throughout Hurt Locker. This movie is the only war movie I've ever seen that captures the different qualities of courage each individual soldier of Marine carries in combat. Each of this movie's characters react and respond in their own way and each of them are men we can be proud of. The ending was a surprise - the Director captured the feeling of uselessness that ordinary pursuits have after combat and the sense of meaning that fighting for greater things has for veterans.
I know that there are the usual Hollywood fabrications - the wrong pattern uniforms and specious raids into town to find the killer of a little boy (anyone trying that trick in Iraq would...
