... Joseph Smith and angels that supposedly visited him. We say, “No, that didn’t happen. Those were exaggerations, myths, maybe outright lies spread that people came to believe.” The agnostics, then say, “See! What did I tell you?” So the temptation is to demonize them, to suggest they are on purpose trying to put up this challenge to spreading our faith.
Dennis, I definitely agree with what you wrote. BTW, I’m Catholic. I wanted to offer another take, something I’ve been thinking about. It’s another reason why evangelical Christians and Catholics have so much animosity against Mormons. Faith is hard. We believe some spectacular miracles occurred way in the past. Parting of the Red Sea, virgin birth, Christ rising from the dead. But since we don’t see such spectacular miracles happening today, it’s hard to convince agnostics. They say, those were exaggerations, myths, maybe outright lies spread that people came to believe. We have some logical reasoning to try and convince them, but then along come the Mormons with their additional miracles they talk about, such as ...

I don't know Brent, I'm with you on my dislike for Hollywood elitism and liberalism. But then I see Ricky G. skewer those Hollywood elites. I guess I'm in the camp of enjoying "Hollywood eat itself". I watched one of Ricky's specials and thought it hilarious. He's very politically incorrect, in the direction I like. Sure, if he decides to push the anti-religious bit so much I'll probably stop watching him.
I passionately support having capital punishment available, but only for the taking of a life. To extend beyond that, I believe is reckless. To get this out of the way. Yes, if my child or grandchild were raped, I 'd want the rapist tortured, executed, and tortured again. But I still don't believe we should extend the use of capital punishment. Child abuse raises a lot of passion, which is understandable. But we have seen cases where children have been manipulated by child protective services and law enforcement. Look up the McMartin preschool abuse trials that happened back in the 1980s.

Students Share Penn State Shame

Aren't you a bit late with this? That riot was some time ago. And I thought the candlelight vigil and the praying for the victims was very significant. And isn't there a bit of rush to judgment regarding what Paterno and the other coach knew about Sandusky? They claim they went to the police. I don't know what the truth is, but you don't either. Maybe Paterno is more innocent than you think and the students protesting his firing had good cause.
