The repub party since the late 50's was the minor party for over 40 years and a lot of the old guard still have those traits. Then Reagan came along and their was a fire in the belly condition and many repubs said yes we can. Now the old guard has wrestled away leadership and want the old minor party status back because that is what worked for them. They were important and the old guard wants that back because they don't like to fight that hard to stand up to the dumbocrats. The fight has moved inside the repub party.
