Let them deficit spend, however insist that they attach another bill to the spending bill which puts restrictions on who can vote. If you don't pay at least a 20% tax rate you don't get to vote. That means those rich 1 and 2 % crowd will have to pay up or lose their right to vote. It also means those who refuse to look for work will lose their vote because they don't pay a 20 % tax rate either. This means the hard working folks who do pay their fair share will be in control. How about that? The middle class or working man will be in control....glory be. Do you think the Democrats will allow that to happen?

The house of Representatives controls all the money. They actually have the power to pay or not to pay for everything. They could, if they had the courage, cut spending and balance the budget.
Revenues to the gubmint are known. Proposed expenditures are known. Eliminate departments (EPA, Education, Housing and Urban Development and a few others) and reduce spending in other departments 'till you got a balanced budget.
The howling would be deafening but would subside after a while and we would be on a sustainable path.
Face it folks, it's going to have to happen at some point. The current path is unsustainable and there is no one that can bail the U.S.A. out like Greece and Spain get bailed out. No one.

What a difference a few month makes.

Last month we were told by a fawning news media how great things were. The economy was a little engine that could.  And the declining unemployment rate was touted in headlines as significant progress toward economic recovery.

Unemployment rate falls to 7.8% in September, reported the Washington Post- a four-year low...”nearly”… whatever “nearly” means.
