And then there is the problem of people who are listed as White today, but have ancestors who were Black. You start putting a monetary value on this and everyone will be surprised at how many White Southerners have Black ancestors.
Of course they do. They have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex and of legal age, just like everybody else.
page 123. Mid-1700s, Chesapeake, “Free black people lost the right to employ white indentured servants, hold office, bear arms, muster in the militia, and vote. page 285, Late-1700s, Upper South, “... and all free blacks, women as well as men, were barred from owning dogs and guns and trading without a permit.” page 356, Early 1800s, Lower Mississippi Valley, “... the legislature struck at the privileges free [black] people had enjoyed under Spanish rules, issuing prohibitions against their carrying guns... page 187, Early 1700s, Northern colonies, “In various places, free blacks were required by law to carry special passes to travel, trade, and keep a gun or a dog.”
Apparently, there is a limit on the size of a post, so this will be in two posts. The quotes are from From Ira Berlin’s “Many Thousands Gone: The First Two Centuries of Slavery in North America” 1998, Belknap Press. Notice that one of those quotes refers to free Northern Blacks.
Parker says, "There is no problem facing America today that liberals do not believe should be solved by more government and less freedom." I believe this is so because (so-called) Liberals are essentially, elitists. They just KNOW they are smarter, have higher moral standards, are more compassionate, perceptive, sensitive, etc. than other human beings. For them, it just wouldn't be right to let those other slobs out there not benefit from the Liberals' more-refined sensibilities. I call it Social Worker Syndrome, if you've ever had to deal with one.

Islamic Exceptionalism

"This is the exact opposite of the way the so-called "progressive" elites usually toast the eviscerators of religion in Hollywood and Manhattan." That's because even liberal progressives (or is that progressive liberals?), at heart, know that there really IS qualitative differences between the Western and Muslim worlds. One can be counted on to act like human beings (i.e, they won't kill me for insulting them) and one can be counted on to act like not-very-well-trained attack monkeys (they will mostly kill each other over any perceived insults.)
Colonel Travis was not an American soldier. He was not even an American citizen, at that point. And the Battle of the Alamo was fought by the country of Mexico against its province of Texas. The U.S. Army carries no battle streamer for that conflict. I live in San Antonio and will be giving a staff ride of the Alamo on Thursday.
