Anyone who wishes to join a union should have every right to do so. Anyone who wishes to undertake the profession of his choice without joining a union is likewise entitled to that right. Anyone who chooses to tell unions to go pound sand rather than intervene between workers and employers are entitled to do so. Unions have provided no benefits to anyone beside raising slightly compensation for union members at the expense of everyone else and undermining job security for those members by creating greater incentives for automation and sometimes pricing their members completely out of the market (hence the demise of Flint, Michigan).
