Incoherent Immigration Reform

This is just willful intransigence. You are hiding your hatred of undocumented hispanics behind a facade. They disrespect our laws no more than do whole armies of U.S. citizens who exceed higway speed limits on their daily commute. They break this law because the law is at odds with reality and the needs of our economy. Because this real economic need is met by an illegal system, it is easy to abuse that system to do things like displace citizens from jobs.

Nothing about illegal immigration quite adds up.

Conservative corporate employers still support the idea of imported, cheap, non-union labor -- in a strange alliance with liberal activists who want the larger blocs of Latino voters that eventually follow massive influxes from Latin America.

Yet how conservative are businesses that in the past flouted federal law -- and how liberal are activists who undermined the bargaining power of American minimum-wage, entry-level workers, many of them minorities?
