I Am Not Stoned: Sobering Realities For Taxpayers On The Road To Legalizing Marijuana

I do not know the formal definitions for what you are doing, but your thinking is A$$-backwards. Your conclusion is that Pot is the devil, and you assassinate logic in your attempt to prove it. You: " Not all people who drank milk or beer become hard drug users." True, now you're suppposed to ask yourself: 'Do all people who smoke Pot become hard drug users?' No they do not. Pot is similiar to beer and milk is that respect. But instead you jump to: "...nearly 100% of hard drug users smoked pot before moving to the hard stuff." Yes, but they also drank beer & milk before 'moving on to the hard stuff'!

Really? I found that, on a busy column, when I post a response to a thread buried several pages back it almost never gets a reply. OTOH if I post it as a new thread, the person to whom I am responding finds and replies to it far more often, and of course new people are far more likely to see it.

RE: "And BTW, people reply to posts by starting new threads *all the time* here at townhall.com. The paging nature of the software they switched to a couple years ago encourages it."

Well, doing it that way will almost guarantee the person you're responding to will miss it, especially on a busy board with hundreds of posts.

Well, I tried. I'd like to say 'my work here is done', but I guess all that I've done is demonstrated the truth of that old saw about horses and water.

I answered his beer & milk nonsense in one of his earlier rants on here. I won't waste my time repeating it here, but you can look for it if you wish. Suffice it to say, it's a false analogy.

He does have you logically though, hyperventilating notwithstanding. You have completely confused the difference between a necessary and sufficient condition. That's not a huge deal, most of the public makes these kinds of logical errors all the time. What is especially egregious in your case is that you seem not to get it even after it is pointed out. Your gateway argument is that nearly everyone who has done hard drugs did marijuana first. The same could be said for beer, tobacco, or indeed milk, as flaming pointed out. Most people would realize the problem at that point. You, not so much. Are you high?

Also, you should learn the rudiments of posting on here. One doesn't answer a post by starting a new post. That's what the "reply" button is for. Now go upstairs to your room so your mother can hear your prayers and tuck you into bed for the night.

Flaming,

You should try breathing into a paper bag. I'm told it helps with the hyperventilating.

Your false reasoning is something like this:

A = B , and C = D.

Therefore, A = D.

Pot fans got what they wanted in Colorado: they finally convinced voters there to support the legalization of “recreational marijuana.” It’s seen as a huge victory for those who support the powers of the individual states, and a great example of “federalism” in action. But who is considering the burden of all of this on the American taxpayer?

Before I go further, let me be clear: I have never in my entire life consumed marijuana. When I was a kid I was out of step with my peers on this, but I’ve just never been interested in “trying it,” and that’s...
