The working women will then be able to hire help, creating more jobs, a professional class of housekeepers and child-reares. This is what Hong Kong women do and it makes them better mothers. They are fulfilled in their work, and not stressed by child-rearing: so they are happy mothers who give the best to their kids, instead of snappy, weepy irritable woman who feels her life is going by while very unfairly her husband gets to work and have family life too. I do think women should have a choice, but feminists mean that while women feel they can just run home if they don't like work, they will never grow up. Men don't choose a wife cos she can pay for his life. Men take responsibility, women must too.

A gaffe is a statement that reveals what the spokesperson really thinks but turns out to be embarrassing when it is publicly discussed.

In this case, the embarrassment fell on the Obama administration, so his campaign operatives immediately tried to create political distance between Obama and Rosen. They were not successful. The media refer to her as a "Democratic strategist" or "political analyst."
