The Marshall Plan is private enterprisejQuery152020568080051601356_1324335205757
Dave, wrong again! No bank was ever "forced" to give someone a loan. I thought you understood the private sector!!!!!! You are simply repeating the right wing myth that Democrats wanted every poor person to have a house. (Incidentally, George Bush himself said that). But here is where you are dead wrong: toxic loans only accounted for 3% of the total loss of the economic collapse. The rest was caused by investment banks, bank holding companies, and insurance companies - ALL PRIVATE SECTOR - that manufactured and sold fake and phony financial derivatives. Ever heard of credit default swaps, collateralized debt obligations? Do your homework and turn off Fox "news."
Although I am a private sector worker too. My experience was exactly the opposite. A couple decades ago I was in the public sector but left because companies paid more. I would say that is almost consistently true with all my friends as well. If you don't believe me, try to get good teachers for $25,000 a year. I can trade personal anecdotes with you all day if you like. Your personal generalizations don't make your biases true. Most income comparisons rank private sector pay for the same work than public sector work.
Well, you said exactly nothing to respond to. Just your empty generalizations about 'Democrats' and "petty bureaucrats.' As to the Constitution, there is NOT one 'Democratic' program that is unconstitutional or beyond the Founders' intent.
It did cut the rate and was heading towards 8% but then the Republicans said no more. The President and virtually all economists said the stimulus wasn't big enough, and it wasn't. That doesn't mean it was a bad idea or wasn't working.....Incidentally, did you know that almost 3/4 of the stimulus was tax cuts?
No, because of your tone and silly, irrelevant examples. To repeat, I provided no 'stories,' little, or otherwise. But, I have a sense no matter what I say you will always think: Private sector= Good. Government=Bad. It is as simple as that....correct? There are a lot - if not the majority - of hard working government workers. Not that you want to hear that, though.
I hope getting that off you chest makes you feel better (and tougher, apparently). However, I said nothing about the 'care' factor of a company case worker. In fact, I bet they probably DO care. That was not my point. To repeat my point again....health care is NOT a commodity and, therefore, is perhaps something that could be handled somewhere else where profit is not the basis of decision making. I also did not say that business was 'evil.' Your example of a 'speeding' ticket, while perhaps is funny to you, again reveals that you missed the point of the discussion at hand.
Exactly correct. I doubt if it will get 'heard' on these boards, though. The irrational venom directed at our President and our government is orchestrated by the right wing propaganda machine and Townhall is part of it. To them it is easier to blame poor people for the subprime mortgage collapse or Medicare for health care costs. That fact that there are 25 banking, health care company, big Pharm lobbyists for every elected member of Congress doesn't seem to register with them.
I will say it again. Yes, both workers are entry level. A case worker at a company, however, is beholden to the Board of Directors and the shareholders. In that sense, their ultimate evaluation is based on the bottom line, i.e. whether a profit is made. All of which is fine when you are dealing with widgets or shovels or whatever. Health care and medical services are NOT the same thing. Although the right wing loonies laugh at this, most of the gov't case workers REALLY do care about the quality of medical care and whether a medical expense is made based on the MEDICAL issue at hand, not the profit motive.
Actually, I wish I would mentioned Medicare and SS for 'cost saving' examples. Until the right wing fringe starting yelling bloody murder about the government (at the behest of bankers and health care companies, by the way, so they can get access to your cash via "vouchers"), how many criticisms of these programs did you ever hear? Like, with the Veterans Administration or the Centers for Disease Control or the National Institutes of Health or DARPA or....the list goes on, it really does....unless of course you are a government-hating ideologue.
