Besides all things mentioned in this article please do not forget Ruby Ridge 1992, and Waco 1993 where American citizens were violently killed by the federal secret police. Fast and Furious is not the first time there has been a disconnect between what needed to be done and what was accomplished in the end. The House Over-site Committee must pursue this through to the end and implement rules and safeguards to prevent ANY federal police from being, or thinking, or acting outside the law. In our United States no one in government is above the law. The sentence "TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE" should be on every building, letterhead, car door, and pay check issued by the federal government.
Sometimes, as the saying goes, the truth really is stranger than fiction. There may have been some wild plotlines on "Walker, Texas Ranger," but there was nothing that compares to the scandal surrounding "Fast and Furious" -- the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives operation that resulted in the loss of a distinguished Border Patrol agent, Brian Terry.
